History

Dawn Solar Systems was originally founded in 1999 by Steven Leighton as a vehicle to explore his insights regarding solar thermal system design, garnered while working as a successful roofing contractor. After experimenting with several successful design versions, the company packaged and released its initial product offering, the Dawn Solar Model 2000.

Subsequent product enhancements improved the product design, and Dawn Solar released its award-winning and patent-pending Dawn Solar Model 3004 late in 2004. The company, incorporated at that time, remains headquartered in Brentwood, NH from which it provides engineering, installation, support and consulting services to customers throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

In 2004, under the leadership of Bill Poleatewich, Dawn Solar’s CEO, the company began a directed go-to-market effort that has been rewarded with exceptional growth. Its robust product development plan and continuous improvement of its service offerings positions the company to maintain the triple digit annual growth rates that it has experienced since its launch.
